Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its result. We do not retain those search terms on our own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be kept as long as needed to respond. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Standard technical details may be recorded when a page loads:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files that help measure traffic, popular pages, and exit points. Analytics providers combine that usage data. A browser can block cookies, although doing so may change how some features operate.
What We Do With This Data
- Keeping the site up, running, and loading quickly
- Sending your search requests to the right partner service
- Figuring out which pages people find useful and which need work
- Tracking down and fixing technical issues
- Showing ads that may line up with your interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not build, keep, or sell a database of personal criminal records. San Juan County content identifies official custodians such as the Sheriff, county courts, Washington State Patrol, and the state registry. Government access is controlled by the Washington Public Records Act, court rules, and the criminal-history dissemination provisions in chapter 10.97 RCW. Visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report or a record about another person, and this resource is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted there is governed by that company's privacy terms, retention rules, and sharing practices. Review them before running a search because we do not control those policies.
Links to Other Websites
Links can lead to Sheriff pages, court portals, state agencies, legal resources, and private search services. Once a visitor leaves this website, the destination's privacy policy applies. Check it before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to track activity across websites and select ads.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices protect collected information, but no Internet system can guarantee perfect security or promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. Information identified as a minor's will be removed when properly brought to our attention.
Your Data Rights
Washington's Consumer Protection Act, chapter 19.86 RCW, and other applicable privacy laws may provide additional rights. You may ask to:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
