San Juan County Arrest History
The San Juan County Sheriff supplies countywide local policing and also serves Friday Harbor by contract. Its deputies create incident and arrest reports. Washington State Patrol keeps its own files for state patrol events, while National Park Service law enforcement retains federal park records. The correct arresting agency matters because a request sent to the county cannot produce a report held only by a state or federal office. Friday Harbor has no separate police records desk, despite being the county's sole incorporated town.
An arrest can create several linked records. A deputy's report describes the event and grounds for custody. Intake creates identifying and booking data. The prosecutor may later file a different charge, decline to file, or amend the case. District Court handles misdemeanors and gross misdemeanors; Superior Court handles felonies. Fingerprint-backed data can then reach the Washington State Identification System. Each record answers a different question, so a San Juan County arrest lookup often requires more than one custodian.
Friday Harbor Arrest Intake
San Juan County does not operate a conventional long-term county jail. Everyone first taken into local custody goes to the Sheriff's temporary holding site at 96 Second Street in Friday Harbor. The facility has two holding cells and one special-use cell. Orcas has one holding cell. A person may be released locally under authorized terms, but those awaiting trial or serving a county jail term ordinarily move to South Correctional Entity, known as SCORE, in Des Moines.
The county's Friday Harbor Holding Facility page explains that the local stop is temporary.
That local-to-mainland transfer is why a new arrest may not yet appear in the SCORE roster. Ferry timing, court action, release, and transport can produce more than one custody record. Local holding allows attorney visits only, so family visitation belongs to the receiving facility's process rather than the Friday Harbor site.
Looking Up San Juan County Arrests
Match the search method to the timing and kind of record. A live custody check differs from a request for the arresting deputy's report or a review of the later court outcome. No verified San Juan County Sheriff app offers an arrest or warrant tool, and the selective Sheriff news feed is not a full log.
- For a very recent San Juan County arrest, call the Sheriff at 360-378-4151 because the person may still be in temporary holding.
- Check the SCORE roster, Recent Bookings, Recent Releases, court-events tab, or name search. SCORE also answers custody questions at 206-257-6200.
- Request the Sheriff case report through County Public Records. Give the date, place, agency, incident number if known, and a focused record description.
- Search Washington Courts Case Records for District Court and Odyssey Portal for Superior Court after charges may have been filed, then ask the clerk for the actual order.
- Use Washington Access to Criminal History, or WATCH, for the public statewide product. For identity-linked self-review, use the Washington State Patrol fingerprint process.
Historical SCORE material can be sought through its search or records channels, including publicrecords@SCOREjail.org. A sentenced state prisoner instead belongs in the DOC Incarcerated Data Search. WA VINE can send custody notices, but an alert service is not a complete San Juan County arrest record.
Search San Juan County Arrest Custody
The official SCORE custody gateway separates its current roster, recent bookings, recent releases, scheduled court events, and search functions.
The split helps answer whether someone is in custody now, entered or left within the recent window, or has a scheduled jail court event. Recent views cover the last 24 hours. The roster displays a last-updated time, which should be checked before relying on a result.
The SCORE inmate search documents the fields used to locate a current or prior custody entry.
Use at least one name field or the Name Number. The result cap is 50, so a broad name may need more detail.

Inside a San Juan County Arrest Record
The verified public field list is strongest for SCORE custody records. A Sheriff's report may contain a case number, date, place, narrative, and allegation information, but no stable blank local report was found. Those possible categories should not be promised in every release. Washington law also permits redaction or withholding for active investigations, juvenile matters, victim privacy, and other protected content.

A public custody line shows that booking occurred. It does not prove that the prosecutor filed the same charge, that a court found guilt, or that the estimated release date remained fixed.
San Juan County Arrest Booking Trail
The local chain is concrete: deputy report → Friday Harbor intake → possible SCORE transfer → prosecutor review → District or Superior Court → WSP/WASIS update. Intake establishes identity and custody and supports fingerprint and photograph creation. SCORE then assigns its own Name Number and booking number. A court's initial-appearance or bond order belongs to the case file, so the roster alone cannot identify the final charge, judge, or legal outcome.

A scheduled event is not a disposition. For the filed charge or outcome, use the appropriate court channel and obtain the official order from the clerk. A booking may be too new for the statewide court search, which refreshes daily, and a prosecutor can change or decline the arrest charge.
Booking Logs and Recent Arrests
The SCORE Recent Bookings interface is the official recent-view channel for people transferred into that jail.
It covers a 24-hour window rather than a full county arrest history. A missing entry can mean local temporary holding, release before transfer, another custodian, a spelling issue, or timing between systems. The current roster likewise answers present SCORE custody, not whether someone was arrested months ago.
San Juan County's Sheriff news releases are selective. They should not substitute for a case-report request. SCORE's recent release and historical name search add other time slices, while its public-records office can address records the screen does not expose. Inspection is free and the published copy price is $0.15 per page.

San Juan County Arrest Custody Status
“To be determined” on a SCORE release field usually means court action is still pending. It is not a promise of indefinite custody. SCORE warns that new charges, judicial orders, sentence changes, and discipline can alter release estimates. WA VINE is useful for notification, but the facility and the court remain the sources for current status and orders.
Custody location also changes the practical contact. Local holding permits attorney visits only. SCORE uses Securus for visits, which must be scheduled at least 24 hours and no more than seven days ahead. Sessions last 25 minutes, with published windows from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. each day.

The image confirms that a family visit belongs in SCORE's system, not at San Juan County's temporary holding site. SCORE mail must use the confined person's full name and Name Number, followed by SCORE Jail, 20817 17th Avenue South, Des Moines, WA 98198; the sender must include a return address. The SCORE phone and commissary instructions say Securus provides outgoing calls, but incoming calls are not accepted. TouchPay deposits use the lobby kiosk, 1-866-232-1899, or TouchPayDirect.com with facility number 298198 and the person's ID.
San Juan County Arrest Numbers
The Sheriff's official 2024 review recorded 298 arrests countywide. It separately reported 95 Friday Harbor arrests, 49 arrests outside town on San Juan Island, 74 on Orcas, and 32 on Lopez. The report also tracks charges, calls, traffic activity, citations, accidents, and booked residents. Those categories use different units and should not be added as if they describe distinct people.
An arrest count measures enforcement events, not convictions or crime prevalence among residents. Visitors, repeated contacts, inter-island events, and transfers can affect the numbers. Friday Harbor's 15 felony and 85 misdemeanor charges, for example, are charge counts rather than 100 additional people. The local figures are most useful for understanding workload and geography, including why a county with island substations relies on a mainland custody roster.
San Juan County Arrest Requests
When a roster entry is not enough, the San Juan County Public Records Center routes requests for Sheriff case and collision reports. Submit through the Records Center, email publicrecords@sanjuancountywa.gov, call 360-370-7472 or 360-370-7410, inspect by appointment at 55 Second Street, or mail 350 Court Street #5, Friday Harbor, WA 98250. Visual inspection is free. Chapter 42.56 RCW governs county agency records, while court case files use court rules instead.

Local arrest and holding verification
For SCORE records, use its public-records channels, publicrecords@SCOREjail.org, or the facility's in-person, phone, fax, and mail routes. For WSP or National Park Service incidents, send the request to the originating agency. Friday Harbor's Town portal covers town administrative and code records, not Sheriff's police reports.
Arrests Are Not Convictions
An arrest records an agency action and possible custody. A conviction follows a court finding or accepted plea. Between those points, the prosecutor can decline charges, file a different offense, or amend a case. A court may dismiss or acquit. WATCH can include certain recent pending-disposition arrests, but its public product is not a current county blotter or the full WSP file.

For a self-audit, compare the Sheriff report, SCORE entry, clerk's judgment or dismissal, and fingerprint-linked WSP result. Preserve each date and charge label instead of merging them. A name match alone does not prove identity; WSP identifies fingerprints as the positive linkage.
Note: A San Juan County arrest is not proof of guilt, and many bookings do not result in a conviction.
